Established in 2019, Abrielle Cattery – House of Abrielle is a family-oriented Siberian and Neva Masquerade cattery founded through a shared love of animals and a commitment to ethical, responsible breeding.

What began as a passion has grown into a journey dedicated to preserving, promoting and celebrating the magnificent Siberian cat.

Our Story

Ahmed grew up in a farm-style home surrounded by animals, from cattle and birds to many other animals that formed part of everyday life. This upbringing created a deep love and respect for animals from an early age and, more importantly, an understanding of the responsibility that comes with caring for them.

Ateeyah has always had a special love for cats, but severe allergies and asthma made owning a cat challenging.

Everything changed when we discovered the Siberian cat. The breed is known for sometimes producing lower levels of the Fel d 1 allergen, which gave us the possibility of finally sharing our home and lives with cats.

We quickly fell in love with everything about the Siberian—their magnificent appearance, intelligence, affectionate personalities, strength, playful nature and remarkable connection with people.

From that love, Abrielle Cattery was born in 2019.

More Than Cats — They Are Family

At Abrielle, our cats are first and foremost members of our family.

Our kittens are born and raised in a loving, home-based environment where they are surrounded by everyday family life. From their earliest days, we are personally involved in their development, socialisation, grooming and care.

Every kitten has its own personality, and we take great pride in watching them grow into confident, affectionate and well-socialised companions.

Our responsibility does not end when one of our kittens leaves our home.

We believe that every person who welcomes an Abrielle kitten becomes part of the Abrielle family.

We remain available to our owners throughout their journey, offering guidance and support with settling in, nutrition, grooming, development, showing and general care.

For us, breeding is about much more than producing beautiful kittens. It is about creating lifelong relationships between our cats, their families and ourselves.

Our Commitment to the Siberian Breed

We are deeply committed to preserving and promoting the Siberian and Neva Masquerade.

Our breeding programme focuses on producing cats that represent the qualities we value in the breed—health, temperament, structure, breed type, beauty and character.

Every breeding decision is carefully considered with both the individual cats and the future of our programme in mind.

Our goal is not simply to produce kittens, but to contribute positively to the Siberian breed and leave something meaningful for future generations.

Education & Continuous Learning

We believe that responsible breeding requires education, experience and a willingness to continue learning.

Over the years, we have invested extensively in our knowledge of feline health, genetics, breeding, grooming, behaviour, welfare and breed standards.

Our studies and qualifications include:

• Campus Felinarium: Ursa Minor & Ursa Major
• Cattery Management – Oplex Careers (2020)
• Breeding Dogs and Cats – Animal Welfare Victoria (2020)

For us, education never stops. Every litter, every show, every seminar and every generation teaches us something new.

Our Journey in the Show Hall

Cat shows are an important part of the Abrielle journey and our breeding programme.

Showing allows our cats to be evaluated against recognised breed standards while giving us valuable opportunities to learn, compare, improve and exchange knowledge with judges and fellow breeders.

We actively participate in cat shows throughout South Africa and encourage Abrielle owners who are interested in showing their cats to become involved as well.

We are incredibly proud to see cats bred by Abrielle being shown and recognised both with us and with their new families.

An Extraordinary 2026

The 2026 show season became one of the most memorable chapters in the history of Abrielle Cattery.

It was a year that demonstrated not only the quality of individual cats, but the strength and consistency of generations within our breeding programme.

We were incredibly honoured to achieve:

One of our proudest achievements was our home-bred Abrielle Amun Ra, who achieved the remarkable distinction of being named both SACC Kitten of the Year 2026 and CFSA Kitten of the Year 2026.

But 2026 was about much more than one cat.

At SACC Cat of the Year 2026, nine cats from the Abrielle family attended the national event, with seven of those cats bred by Abrielle.

At CFSA Cat of the Year 2026, five Abrielle cats qualified for the Top 10:

Abrielle Amun Ra • Abrielle Anubis • Abrielle Osiris • Abrielle Sheez • Abrielle Asteroid

Having Abrielle represented across kittens, males and females made these achievements particularly meaningful to us.

Winning Kitten of the Year, Litter of the Year, Dam of the Year, Sire of the Year and Cattery/Breeder of the Year represents something greater than a single show result.

For us, it reflects generations of careful breeding, dedication, learning and an unwavering passion for the Siberian breed.

We are enormously proud of these achievements, but we also recognise the judges, clubs, fellow breeders, exhibitors and Abrielle families who have formed part of this incredible journey.

Beyond Breeding

Our involvement in the South African cat fancy extends beyond breeding and exhibiting.

Ahmed is a qualified judge for Chinchilla Longhair, Exotic and Persian breeds and continues to study and expand his judging portfolio.

Ateeyah is also pursuing her studies in feline breed standards, judging and feline behaviour.

We believe breeding, exhibiting, judging and education all complement one another. Each provides a different perspective and continually challenges us to learn, improve and better understand the cats and breeds entrusted to us.

From the first moments of a kitten’s life to the day they leave our home, and throughout the years that follow, we remain proud to be part of their journey.
