What does a Siberian kitten cost in South Africa?

What you pay for a registered Siberian kitten, what the price includes, the costs of the first year, and how to spot a deal that's too good to be true.

A Siberian kitten is a 15-year-plus commitment, so it helps to know what the price covers – and what to budget for afterwards. Here's an honest breakdown from our cattery.

Our kitten price

An Abrielle Siberian or Neva Masquerade kitten is R19 000. A 50% deposit reserves your kitten, and the balance is due by the time your kitten is 12 weeks old. If no kitten is available yet, joining our waiting list costs R1 900, which comes off your deposit later.

What the price includes

  • Two vaccinations, deworming and a microchip
  • Sterilisation before going home (at 13–15 weeks)
  • Pedigree papers from a registered cattery (CFSA, SACC and CASA) and transfer of ownership
  • 16 to 20 weeks with mum and littermates – kittens learn manners and confidence this way
  • Weekly photo and video updates, a written contract, our Kitten Care Guide, and support for life

Budget for the first year

  • Setting up: litter box, litter, bowls, scratcher, carrier, brush and toys.
  • Food: good-quality kitten food every month – kittens eat more than you think.
  • Vet: the yearly vaccination and a check-up, plus pet insurance if you choose it.
  • Grooming: a weekly brush at home; a professional groom now and then helps in shedding season.
  • Holidays: a trusted cattery or cat sitter when you travel.

If the price seems too good to be true

Very cheap "Siberian" kittens are often not Siberians, not registered, sold too young, or not vaccinated or sterilised. Fixing that later costs more than the saving. Ask for registration papers, meet the parents (or see them on a video call), and make sure there's a written contract.
