Siberian or Neva Masquerade?
They're the same breed. A Neva Masquerade is a colourpoint Siberian – a lighter body with darker "points" on the face, ears, paws and tail, and usually blue eyes. Classic Siberians come in many colours and patterns, from tabbies to silvers. Both have the same loving, playful, people-oriented nature and the same thick, triple coat.
What Siberians are like
- Affectionate and social – they follow you around and love being part of family life.
- Playful and clever – many learn games like fetch, and they enjoy puzzle toys.
- Good with children and other pets when introduced calmly.
- Coat care: brush two or three times a week, more when they shed in spring.
Questions to ask any breeder
- Is the cattery registered with a cat club (such as CFSA, SACC or CASA), and will my kitten have papers?
- Will the kitten be vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and sterilised before going home?
- At what age do kittens go home? Kittens need time with their mother and littermates – we let ours go at 16 to 20 weeks.
- Can I meet the parents, or see them on a video call?
- Is there a written contract, and will the breeder support me after I take my kitten home?
